20mm vs 25mm Spacer Width Testing
20mm vs 25mm Spacer Width Testing
Saturday, April 16, 2011
After doing the 15mm and 20mm spacers front and back, I wasn’t 100% sure that I was good with the 20mm on the back, felt like maybe it could have used more. H&R does offer 25mm but that would mean buying those, waiting a week for them to come in, and then testing them...and maybe only to find out I didn’t really like those more.
So I got a little creative [a bit crazy even? :) ] and taped up a bunch of Quarters to the wheel hub and pushed out the wheel exactly 5mm. The end result was that I didn’t really like it, I liked the 20mm better so the whole thing was a success...didn’t need to go through with order a new set of spacers.
Three Quarters taped together measure exactly 5mm...who knew?
Originally I put only three sets of Quarters on the hub and tested the spacer over them, but it was wobbly...
...so I added two more sets for a total of five. Taped them to the hub itself so I could get the spacer and wheel back on.
With the now 20mm+5mm spacer in place, the rear wheel stuck past the fender just barely.
The end result...I didn’t really like it. The back wheel stuck out just a bit too much, it looked odd and out of place to me.
25mm on the driver’s side and 20mm on the passenger side.
It’s hard to tell the difference from the photos but in person the difference was clear.
